If you’re a hockey mom, you know the struggle. Between work, school, hockey practices, games, homework, and driving everyone around, finding time to make dinner feels like another full-time job.
And apparently, everyone expects to eat. Every. Single. Day.
Well, I’ve recently made two purchases that have seriously changed my life. And I have a third one on the way that I might be even more excited about.
Yes, I’ve reached the age where kitchen appliances and heated blankets bring me genuine happiness.
First up: My Crock-Pot
Where has this thing been all my life?
Seriously, why did I spend years standing over a stove when I could have been doing this?
Now I can throw my ingredients in the Crock-Pot in the morning, make my sauce, head off to work, and come home to dinner practically ready.
No standing in the kitchen stirring sauce for hours. Who has time for that?
Between working, driving kids to hockey, helping with homework, and trying to keep the house from looking like a tornado went through it, I certainly don’t.
And the best part? Walking through the door and smelling dinner already cooking.
It’s like someone made dinner for me.
Except that someone was me, eight hours earlier, when I still had energy and patience.
Next up: My Rice Robot
Another little machine I never knew I needed.
I used to think, “Do I really need a separate appliance just to cook rice?”
Turns out, YES. Yes, I do.
Now I throw the rice in, press a button, and walk away.
While it’s cooking, I’m emptying hockey bags, making lunches for tomorrow, feeding the cats, letting the dog out, and probably answering someone yelling “MOM!” from upstairs.
And just like that, BANG. Rice is ready.
No watching a pot. No checking if the water has boiled away. No scraping burnt rice off the bottom because I got distracted by something else.
Honestly, anything that cooks dinner without needing my constant attention deserves a permanent spot on my counter.
What I use: Rice Robot Rice Cooker
And finally: My heated shawl
This one hasn’t arrived yet, but I am ridiculously excited.
If you’ve ever spent an entire weekend sitting in freezing hockey arenas, you’ll understand.
I’ve spent years bundled up in jackets, scarves, and blankets, clutching my coffee like it’s the only thing keeping me alive.
And somehow, no matter how many layers I wear, I’m still freezing.
So I finally ordered myself a heated shawl.
I’m picturing myself sitting in the stands, wrapped up like a warm burrito, watching hockey with my coffee in hand.
Will I look like someone’s grandmother? Possibly.
Will I care? Not one bit.
If it keeps me warm through back-to-back hockey games, I might never take it off.
What I ordered: USB Wearable Heated Shawl Wrap (White)
It’s the little things
I know these aren’t exactly exciting purchases to everyone.
But when you’re a busy mom, anything that saves you time, makes dinner easier, or keeps you warm in an arena feels like winning the lottery.
I still have groceries to buy, lunches to make, homework to help with, and a mountain of laundry that seems to reproduce overnight.
But at least dinner is one less thing to stress about.
Now, if someone could invent a machine that empties hockey bags, washes the equipment, and puts everything away without being asked 15 times, I’d happily pay full price.
