Hi! I’m the mom behind Full Hearted Mom (fullheartedmom.com/). I’d much rather be writing about hockey bags and cold coffee, but your privacy matters, so here’s the plain-language version of what this blog collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Full Hearted Mom is a personal blog run from Canada. I handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and only collect what I need to run the blog.
What I collect
- Newsletter signups: if you join the mailing list, I collect your email address (and your first name if you choose to give it) so I can send you new posts.
- Comments: if you leave a comment, the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string are stored to help with spam detection. Your email is never shown publicly.
- Emails you send me: if you write to me, I’ll have your email address and whatever you include in your message.
- Basic technical data: like most websites, the server automatically logs things like IP address, browser type and the pages visited. This is used for security and to keep the site running.
How I use it
I use your information only to send the newsletter you signed up for, show and moderate comments, reply to messages, keep the site secure, and understand in general terms which posts people enjoy. I don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. Ever.
The newsletter
Newsletter emails are sent through a third-party email service. Your email address is stored with that provider only to deliver the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe anytime. Once you do, you won’t hear from me again unless you sign up again.
The email service may use standard tracking (like whether an email was opened or a link was clicked) to show me overall results. I’ll name the provider here once it’s set up.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. This site uses a few:
- Essential cookies that WordPress uses to make the site work (for example, if you’re logged in, or to remember your details when you leave a comment, if you tick that box).
- Caching: the site uses LiteSpeed Cache on Hostinger to load faster. It may set technical cookies to serve the right version of a page. They don’t identify you personally.
- Amazon: if you click an Amazon affiliate link, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to know the purchase came from Full Hearted Mom. That’s covered by Amazon’s privacy notice.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The blog will still work, but some things (like remembering your comment details) won’t.
Affiliate links
Some posts contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon.ca. As an Amazon Associate, Full Hearted Mom earns from qualifying purchases. If you click one of these links and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I don’t receive your name, address or anything you buy; Amazon only reports overall sales to me. See the Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Embedded content and other sites
Posts may include embedded content (like videos or social media posts) or links to other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you visited the other site, and that site may collect data about you. I’m not responsible for other sites’ privacy practices, so please check their policies.
Where your information is stored
The site is hosted by Hostinger, and some service providers (such as the email service, spam protection and Amazon) may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States or the European Union. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those countries.
How long I keep it
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Comments: for as long as the comment stays on the site. Spam is deleted automatically.
- Emails: as long as needed to answer you, then deleted when no longer needed.
- Server logs: for a limited time, as set by the host.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it (for example, your comments or your newsletter signup). You can also withdraw your consent at any time. Just email me and I’ll take care of it within 30 days.
If you’re not happy with how I handled your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Kids
This blog is written for parents. It isn’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given me their information, let me know and I’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
